Help us build the record
This page is still in progress. We’re working to create a record of every Highest Award earned by a Benicia Girl Scout, and every adult recognition award earned by the volunteers behind them — and we need your help to make it complete.
If you’re a current or former Girl Scout with a project you’d like included, or a volunteer who has received an award, please email us at info@beniciagirlscouts.com. Awards earned decades ago matter as much as last year’s — the older ones are exactly the ones most likely to be missing.
About the awards
Bronze, Silver, and Gold
The Highest Awards recognize Girl Scouts who identify a problem in their community, plan a project to address it, and see it through.
- Bronze Award — earned by Juniors, working individually, in a small group, or as a whole troop.
- Silver Award — earned by Cadettes, individually or in a small team.
- Gold Award — earned by Seniors and Ambassadors, individually. It is the highest award in Girl Scouting.
Council runs the requirements, timelines, and approvals for all three.
For our volunteers
Recognizing our adults
None of it happens without the adults. Troop leaders, committee volunteers, drivers, cookie parents, and the people who show up early to set up chairs — Girl Scouts has awards for all of them, and we want Benicia’s on the record too.
Recognition works at three levels. Troop awards are given by a troop to its own volunteers. Service unit awards, including the Volunteer of Excellence Award, are approved and presented by us here in Benicia. National and council awards are nominated through GSNorCal, and anyone — a troop, a service unit, or an individual — can put a volunteer forward.
We present our own each spring at the Closing and Recognition Ceremony. If you know a volunteer who deserves one, tell us — most people who have earned an award will never mention it themselves.
